What does an SDEC Committeeman do?

What is the SDEC?

The SDEC is the State Democratic Executive Committee. The SDEC carries on the activities of the party in communities across Texas. The SDEC is composed of leaders from Texas’ 31 senate districts and representatives of OUR people. The SDEC is composed of one man and one woman from each of the 31 state senatorial districts (SDs). Delegates elect this committee at the state convention held around June or July of even-numbered years. The Convention ratifies the SD elections. SDEC members help organize and oversee Party activities in their respective SDs.

What is the role of a Committeeman and Committeewoman?

Each state senate district is represented by one man and one woman who acts as the field representative and carries out the activities on behalf of the State Democratic Party within their respective State Senate Districts. They are volunteers who can assist the county party by performing the essential function of acting as a conduit for communication between the senate district party constituents (YOU) and state leadership. They cast a vote on your behalf with respect to state party rules and direction.

Why I ran to represent you and what can you expect from me?

The running theme for what the SDEC Committeeman/Woman does is to function as a delegate - as a channel to represent you at the State party level. I perform these functions already for all working Texans and was formally trained by one of the most established and organized constituency groups who essentially built the middle class - Labor Unions. We are your neighbors and we are your family. Currently, I not only represent members that agree with my politics but I sit on an executive board for the Tarrant County Central Labor Council (TCCLC) that represents 22 distinct bargaining units over 7 counties. My experience in successfully having to balance the needs of front line essential retail and service workers, government employees, building trades professionals, musicians, entertainers, medical professionals, and legal professionals gives me a broad range of negotiation skills. The skills I have and the resources I have available to me throughout the State of Texas due to my formal training and the networks I’ve made, will be essential to the SDEC. This is why I helped created the Labor Relations Committee under the Tarrant County Democratic Party. Flipping Texas means flipping Tarrant County COMPLETELY BLUE up and down the ballot as well as defending our Democratic strongholds in Dallas County. This requires the ability to be transparent and to coalesce all the different groups and communities in both Dallas and Tarrant Counties to work together. I can build the bridges we need to bring resources, focus, and inclusion on a broader scale for strategic, comprehensive, and Democratic plans moving forward. We all deserve a fair shot. I will stand up for you.
